As long as the rest of the engine, 200k+. In the old days (pre 80s) they used aluminum/nylon gears on the camshaft, and in 80k miles or 6 years was about the time you could start expecting failure. Now the use steel for the cam gear, and more important, fuel injection and computer controls, keeping the oil a lot cleaner and thus causing a lot less wear. Now, you will get chain wear and stretch to some degree, but usually not enough to cause failure, or significant performance loss.
