Default Defective '86 Blower Switch

The blower switch on my '86 Vette as never worked on slow speed, but up until recently it did fine on High, and Max. Now, it is intermittent or nothing at all. This car is pristine and has only 44,000 miles, but there may be some oxidation on contacts/relays etc. How do I access the switch, test, repair, replace. Where can I find a replacement?

Any help appreciated.

It's more likely that you have an open resistor in the fan speed resistor network. It's located on the top of the evaporator housing in the engine compartment.

You mention MAX and HIGH so I'm going to assume you've C60 A/C - the bower resistor is certainly the easiest and maybe least expensive. You can take the GM# 14093106 to your favorite AP Store, eBay or any of the resellers and buy.

If it were actually the dash control switch it's likely available also but it would likely be an eBay or a buy done maybe through the C4 parts WTB/SELL sub-forum. GM# 16022463 might help for searches.

Is it actually a manual C60 system?

I'm not familiar with C60 jargon. However, the AC system is all original equipment using the Freon R12.

Thanks much for you assistance. Very valuable to me.

Do you have AUTO AC (C68) (multiple buttons) or MANUAL AC (C60) (manual levers, twist **** for fan control).

My information is correct then. The resistor is certainly the easiest. If you had every speed EXCEPT -HIGH then the HI-BLOWER relay would be likely the culprit. Intermittent maybe "hints" blower switch in the control panel and you mention never had low speed.

If you've a relationship with a "local" dealer maybe they could locate one on a dealers shelf in the vicinity.

I greatly appreciate you help with this. I ordered both parts, the switch and resistor bank, on line.
