What are the 96 Grand Sports worth these days?

Ahh! Now that both of your cars are pretty much worthless to you as they are not matching, I offer to buy them both for say..... $15,000. What do you say?

IMO Mecum and ebay are good indicators for the MARKET price, not wholesale. Though honestly, I'd damn near throw out all those Mecum and Barrett Jackson results as just hype. They have a whole crowd convinced that every car sold should set the record price, and that the max prices are indicators, not outliers.

I agree. I watch their auctions every weekend and they are the outlier, for sure.

Im not sure i agree with that... i have no inside knowledge as to what extent but i do know that a many of the cars bought at those auctions are bought by dealers who are bidding at an amount that they know will turn a profit for their business thus my reasoning for my wholesale opinion.
There may be some dealers, sure. But most of the guys buying the pricey stuff there are buying it for themselves, most of the cars that they sell are at the top of the market when the commission is factored in.
I also don't understand who thinks SELLING there is a good idea. They know that buyers are going to have to pay a 10% fee, and will bid 10% less as a result. I figure it's guys who want to be part of the spectacle.

So after awhile I get tired of the BS. Those links above are some of the ones I found in a very quick search. As everyone can see, prices vary from high 20's to low 60's. Keep in mind that these are asking prices and not sell (sold) prices.
However, also remember that this particular car is usually a sellers market car as there is a limited production run and each is uniquely serialized separately from the main stream 1996 production run.
IMHO.
Would I like to have a GS roadster in my garage? YES!
Would I pay $30K to $60K to have that privilege? NO!

I owned GS #429. It had 15K miles on it and was absolutely pristine. It was a coupe, black interior, base suspension. I sold it to Rogers Corvette Center about 2 years ago for $26,000, and it was an Ebay auction.

A couple of the links you posted were coupes and I think the OP was specifically looking for convertibles. Coupes can easily be found in the $20-30,000 range.

Big difference between 30 and 70k!
The new GS wont change the C4 prices one bit, just like the new ZR1 hasnt affected the old ones. Just speculation.
they may have their own vin and stripes but overpriced imo oh yeah.

Im not being defensive at all... just addressing the statements that are being made in this thread by people with no clue concerning the GS market.
I know the market well on these cars. i know that i was recently offered north of 30K for my 22000 mile red gut coupe and i suspect that a convertible with the same miles and condition would fetch north of 40K.
Just trying to answer the question posted by the OP.

A base c4 might have been sold for a ton at one time, but it's not the norm.
5 years ago here 16k was way high. 20k might be realistic now.
