Alternative to Race Ramps?

Home built with 2X10s and Rhino Ramps along with some left over wood.
I put hook and eye latches so I can easily detach the approach ramps. I use a garage sale mirror so I can watch the front of the ramp as I drive on. I use a Jackavette to lift the rear and then lower on jack stands:

IMHO ramps are a PITA unless all your doing is changing oil.
HF has a 3ton floor jack with 20" lift for 100 bux. Get 4 of 4 leg jack stands with ratchet stops. Avoid tube or pin type stands.
To jack up a Vette:
Use the floor jack @ the left or right front jack point @ the rocker, raise the car & place a 4x4 or stack 2 or 3 short lengths of 2x6 under the wheel. Lower the car on the wood stack, locate the jack under the center cross member & raise the car. Jack stands in place the rear can also be raised.

Raise whole side at point under side mirror, put stands front and back, repeat on other side.
Repeat a few times if need to go really high.
No cross stress on the body.
I agree, jack stands make more sense since wheels off is step three for a lot of work.
Ramps would be nice for oil, transmission fluid and radiator burp.
