New Project, 1985 c4 z51 4+3
i picked this up 2 weeks ago. it needs lots of love, but it is complete. it runs but needs clutch work. i am going to sort out the trans problems first, then likely drop in a ls6 i have. tentative plans so far for the car; zr1 style 17x9.5f 17x11r wheels, mickey thompson street comp 275/40/17f 315/35/17r tires. adjustable bilstien coilovers, adjustable heim suspension links, poly on all suspension pivots, rollcage, tremec tko 500 5speed eventually. and of course, paint it red lol. enjoy.
post script; forgot to mention i only have $50. in the car until i bought the wheels last week.

Thanks guys. the guy who had it put a new clutch in it some years ago/around 8 or so. and when reinstalling the trans they either kinked or crushed the trans clutch line. so from that point on it would just leak all the fluid out pretty much as fast as you could pour it in. so it sat and sat and he lost interest in the car. this is what im told. i have not tore into it to verify yet. but he was truthful about other things on the car so i would assume its likely true. so anyhow, my wife, daughter, and myself own a LS specific machine and speed shop. so we have lots of that stuff laying around on the shelves. the guy needed a LS1 rebuildable core longblock and a 4l60e trans. i picked out the best of both that i had laying around. i had $50. in the ls1 and $0. in the 4l60e. thus the $50. c4. and no i did not jew him. he asked for a ls1 and 4l60e and thats what i gave him with full disclosure that he needed to rebuild them. i feel with my low investment into the car i can spend some $$$ and likely never get hurt in it.

Check the clutch slave cylinder over carefully. You may be surprised to find it just needs to be rebuilt or replaced. These hydraulic clutches suffer the same brake fluid ravages as the C2-C3 disc brake calipers.
I stored my '85 for 9 years and when I took it out of storage, all I had to do was replace the battery, the fuel pump and rebuild the clutch slave cylinder. As an aside, I did replace the DOT 3 brake fluid with silicone. 17 years later and clutch still works perfect.
I have two friends in the past 10 years that were told they needed a new clutch only to discover the only problem was a leaking slave cylinder. One was a Fiero the other was a Mitsubishi Eclipse. Unfortunately the Fiero friend paid for the new clutch and a month later the problem returned so he talked to me. We looked it over and sure enough the slave was leaking brake fluid. Do you know what it costs to change a clutch in a Fiero...
Good luck... GUSTO

I have used balance beads with great success in my pickup and plan to use them in my Vette when I put on my C5 wheels and new tires. I have an 86 and am trying to figure out the right spacers to run my C5 wheels. Do you have part numbers for those adapters you ordered? Are you happy with the quality?
