Default Now I'm confused (Collector ins.)

I just called 5 collector ins. companies and now my head is spinning

Can anyone give me recommendations?

Here is a synopses ('96 CE valued at $15K)

Grundys - unlimited miles, $0 deduct = $256

Haggertys - 3K miles limit, $0 deduct = $534

Classic - 3k miles limit, $0 deduct = $263

American Collector - ($100 deduct) = $337

JC taylor - 2500 miles limit, $0 deduct = $269

Haggertys is very high compared to the others, but I'd like to get opinions from people's experience with these different companies

TIA!!

As they say, your mileage may vary. They might be using different criteria to get those rates. I had American Collectors, but dropped them after they started changing what I could and could not do with my cars. Granted, they did take good care of me after Sandy, so maybe they wanted to push me out. I went with Haggerty and could not be happier. Their quote does seem high, I have 4 cars on my policy with them and my cost is under $1k/yr. You should also check into NCM, many here use them with good results.

Thanks, I have 6 to choose from and if they give me a different price online vs the person who answered the 800 line, then I'll go with one of the others

Been using Adam Boca here on the forum at NCM rates are decent coverage very good serice excellent calls/emails always returned .
Thats important to me. Hard to find for a high hp highly modified car

Do you have a work or pleasure drive exclusion lots of fine print to consider.

I agree with cuisinartvette, Adam Boca is the Man to go to. Check out the NCM before you decide..........

6k miles allowed per year for my 93 with an agreed value of 10k for 229 per year full coverage. I don't think that is too bad...........

Hagerty has had me for 19 years. I have 3 cars, a van and a motorcycle on the policy for under 500. I've used the collision twice; no problem with my claim. I sent a picture, a description of what happened and a quote. They sent a check.

Adam Boca at NCM. Replaced broken windshield on my 91. No hassle and I was able to use a glass shop that was recommended by other Corvette owners in the area. EXCELLENT service!

Just be sure you know what you're buying I have Haggerty on a couple collectibles. All was good until someone ran into the side of my '68 Firebird convert. They would only pay for "the most economical" repair. In other words, lots of bondo and a "best match" partial paint job. I ended-up fixing it myself and will switch carriers at renewal.

Had Haggerty for years on my cars, but just switched to State Farm. They beat Haggerty for my 94 Corvette and my 78 MGB V8 conversion. Was really surprised, but saved me money with expanded coverage. Have stated value policy on both cars. Probably helped I've been with State Farm for years and the agent is a good friend.

I just got Haggertys for my '92. $7000 stated value, garaged, $272 per yr. I didn't shop around because how much could I save? If they gave me free insurance I could only save $272, right?

My question: what is this mileage limitation? I wasn't aware of one and I just went thru my insurance documents and can't find anything to do with a mileage limitation. Is that just in certain states? I'm in NC and I believe we have an insurance commissioner who sides with the people most times.

I hope I didn't miss anything. I've put 1000 miles on it over the past 3 weeks.

Adam Boca at NCM.

He even offered to offset my moving expenses if I had to move my cars during the recenthurricane. I was impressed.

Here's an article I wrote last year about all of this.

BTW - If you have an unregistered project car in your garage it's not covered under your homeowner's policy. You really need to talk to Adam about insuring it as a project. A forum member just lost a nice C2 a few weeks ago when his garage caught fire. There was no insurance on the car.

I have my 86 insured with Continental Western. $10K declared value, unlimited mileage for about $200 a year. One thing is you have to have a regular daily driver and use it for personal use. I've not had a reason to have a claim so I can't speak to that at this time.

I'm very happy with Travellers. Wifes car, homeowners policy and my 91 and 92 insured with agreed value. C4's are less than 300 a year, no restrictions. I drive both year round except when roads are snow covered

I have my '96 CE valued at $15k with Hagerty's for just over $400 per year. NO mileage limitation but not to be used as a daily driver. 100,000/300,000 and $0 deductible. Apparently every state is different.
