what is this hood latch/cowl piece?
Noticed these rubber seals (circled in green) on another C4. Looks like 1/4" thick rubber mat, fit to shape. I asked the owner where he got it from (thinking it was aftermarket), he claimed they came that way from the factory, yet my 96 sure doesn't have them.
Anyone know their part # ? or who sells them? Seems like they help keep water from pooling in there.

They were on earlier C4's I don't remember when they stopped maybe 89-90. They can be added to any year.

my dad had a 91 that had them, but my 94 did not. I found a junker C4 in a scrap yard and put them on mine. no clue what it really does

It's not listed in my Parts and Illustration Catalog. It must have been added afterwards to correct a problem. Maybe a recall? My 87 has something similar in that location. It looks to be some type of weatherstripping.

Here is a picture of the one in my 87. It appears to be some kind of latex. It fill the hollow in the bracket behind the hood latch. I suspect to keep it from filling with water. Should be easy to make.
