I just bought a 94 and it did not come with a key Fob. What year did the corvette start having key fobs from the factory ? If my 94 should have came with one, how do I get a new one ?

Fobs were standard from 93 on. You can get them from many sources, including ebay (they are expensive). There are two types, one for autos another for manuals. Before you spend the money read about them in your owners manual. You should check and make sure the car side of the system is working before buying. Go through the programming procedure (owners manual again) right up until you get to the part where you need a fob to proceed. If everything happens as it should until that point you can be pretty sure that the system is working and just missing a fob.

I thought the types were for coupes or convertibles.

Exactly. The PKE fob for coupes has 2 buttons - one for the doors and one for the rear hatch. The convertible version only has the one button for the doors as there is no hatch. Both of them are fairly expensive being north of $100 on places like eBay.
