Default yet another potential, more questions

Hi again,
As my search for a car continues, i've come across another potential car

89 Coupe, great paint, good interior, just a couple of issues I need input on.

1) It has salad shooter rims with 245/50-16 tires (new) Since this car came with the 17 inch rims are the 16s a problem? I actually like the look of salad shooters better than saw blades so if they work I'd keep them. I do realize it results in a 1 inch narrower tire. but they are only .02 inches smaller diameter than the factory 17s.

2) Instrument panel is dead no illumination, no data nothing.

3) Service engine light with code 32 (EGR ?)

When you say "new" tires is that by tread depth or actual age? Mine have a ton of tread but are 10 plus years old and the rubber is showing it's age. The 16s certainly limit you on tire availability. 17s are a little better for variety and availability.

By sales receipt. the car is at a small used car dealer. he showed me the work order. It matches with the tires. They also look new. Realize that even dealer stock can be 2-3 years old with less common sizes.

I'd ask him to fix everything and come up with a price. I don't listen to the "Well it would take X, Y and Z......". Fix it, we talk or I ask someone else how much it costs to fix everything and deduct.
