Default 1986 4+3 corvette problems

I have a 1986 corvette with some issues would love some feed back.1st thing is... that OD turns on by itself and the button turns it off fine. But the button wont turn it on so when I get on the Highway I'm in 4th low with high rpms. I've read about the jumper switch trick will that work? 2nd how do I disconnect the factory security? sometimes it wont start and I have to wait 10to15 min. before I can start my car.

Can't help you on the OD question as mine doesn't have the 4+3 any more.

On VATS, sounds like the resistor on the key is not being read all the time. Easiest solution IMO is to get the corresponding vats fob that plugs into the wire that comes from the column with a corresponding resistor in it. It takes the places of the resistor off the key and seems to work very well.

Not an uncommon issue with VATS. Had the issue with my '89 IROC and ended using the Hawks bypass module to ignore the entire system.

the thing is I want to b able to turn on so I can drive on the highway the button will just shut it off and the computer turns it on randomly. but not when I want like on the highway. 4th gear low on the highway seems way to high rpms you no?
