Default Got the shank

got the shank today, found a company they said they had a new edelbrock high flow 3860 intake in stock. I went ahead and bought and paid for it. After not being able to get a update on it for sometime now.. I get a pay pal message that they refunded my $493.00. Which was a lot to 💰 pay. But I thought my long search was over. Drat now I have a 52mm BBK throttle body, 52mm ported and polished plenum and 3870 edelbrock high flow runners that are just going too sit and collect dust. Geeezzz

Had to look up that part to see what it was. Summit popped up with a picture but said 'un-available'. Bummer.
I have a friend that has a lot of engine work done on his '88 Corvette Challenge car and I'll be seeing him Saturday (2/11) for a little track time with the car. I know he has a ported upper and large runners but can't remember about the lower piece. I'll ask him about his manifold and what he has on there and where he got it or what he had done to it, and I'll get back to you.

Thanks, I had thought about a TPIS mini ram.. I think the edelbrock and accels are getting hard to find. With what I have invested in the runners, throttle body and plenum I could have bought a super ram. There was a guy on here converting LT1 manifolds to fit L98s. I don't remember who it was now. I will search some more and maybe get lucky. Thanks, gary

Talked to mu buddy with the 88 Challenge car today and he said his lower portion is a stock ported one. He said he couldn't find one of those Edelbrock manifolds either. Sorry that wasn't much help.
If there is a way to convert an LT-1 manifold to fit an L-98, that would make a lot of things easier. Changing injectors is a snap on one of those! I remember we had a hell of a time getting those larger tube runners on his car without messing up the gaskets, and getting those bolts in at all the weird angles was a real challenge. Also because of the larger dia. tubes, the injector harness didn't like to be squished between the tubes and the valve covers so we had to take the stock cover off the harness to flatten out the wiring.
I'd like to see what that conversion to an LT-1 manifold looks like if you ever find a link to it.

Sorry to hear that. Kind of similar, I want a particular size tire and rims to fit my 86. The rims are the lynchpin on this project, so until I found the rims I wanted and had them in hand, I did not even consider getting tires. Get the hardest parts first then work from there.

My 2 cents.

..... Actually , I was referring to the TPIS Tuned Port Base ... I think they called it the "Big Mouth" ... from what I heard , they are the same casting with different branding on them (TPIS , Accel , Edelbrock) .....

you might go into a camero forum and ask about a manifold..they use the same parts.. certain ones anyway.

go to the for sale section and post wtb, you may get lucky, there was someone looking for runners not to long ago and several people made offers. you could sell what you have on ebay, most people who do seem to get a good price then spend the money on a FIRST TPI Intake, more money and more work to put in though from what I have read. Link to FIRST. https://www.firstfuelinjection.com/services.html

Pulled the plug and bought a ported and powder coated base off Ebay. I had found a couple of tPIS big mouth manifolds but they were pricey, I hope I made the right decision, arggghhhh

Thanks for the reply, i found a couple TPIS big mouth manifolds but they were over double the price of the one I bought. I just could not see spending alot more for a item that may not give me a ton more power. I hope the high flow runners, ported plenum ( which I have two of now.. a 52mm and a 58mm) BBK 52mm throttle body. roller rockers, breatless performance ram air assy and full dui high voltage ignition. Will give me just a bit more like going to the full tube hooker headers and new exhaust system did, Gggg
