Default smoke

Hi
I was wondering I'm getting abit of smoke coming by left side of distributor and it stops when fan comes on. I checked things out but couldn't see where it was coming from. My car is a 1984. Any suggestions
thanks

Year might help but would look at your two oil pressures sensors for leaks if it has a dizzy.

I'm new at corvettes
It never did this before and i was just wondering why it was smoking by distributor. I looked around it but couldn't see anything. I checked under car and there is nothing dripping. I thought it was dog hair burning so i took my compressor and blew around it. It stopped for abit and came back but it wasn't as bad but it was still there.
The funny thing it stops when fan comes on which is funny. So i was wondering what could be leaking but stops when fan comes on. I dont think its steam it does have a odour
Thanksl

LT1 has steam tubes. Grey IDK, white could be intake gasket coolant leak, blueish oil leak. As Ant Farmer stated oil switches are near distributor, sealer at rear of intake or valve cover gasket but normally an oil leak. You could try a mirror.

I have put new valve cover gaskets on already. The funny think is why when fan comes on the smoke goes away. It doesnt smell like coolant. The next time i start it will check again. Something is burning but goes away when fan comes on and its cooling down the engine. With a flash light i cant see anything but i will check better next time . My fan comes on at 109 C and goes off at 104 C and the smoke doesn't smell like coolant. I will check it out again next time i run it again
Thanks

Keep an eye on the coolant level. If your loosing coolant that may be your answer.

You have a coolant hose at the back of the intake manifold on the passenger side next to the distributor. As mentioned earlier you have a coolant issue. The fan just masks it a bit,

I bet if you tighten/swap the hose you will be good.

I'm presuming when you say "left side", you're talking about the drivers side of the distributor. That's where the oil pressure sensor is located. It's hard to see, but wiping in that area with a rag should help you find the leak. Oil from a small leak will probably be spread around the back of the engine, and may not causes a drip under the engine.

Left and right is always from the view of the driver sitting in the drivers seat. dOES THE SMOKE SMELL LIKE BURNT OIL? DOES it only occur at start up, idle or all the time? Oder and color are important clues. The smoke going away when the fan comes on ,at first glance, seems pretty much a normal thing to happen if the smoke isn't much. I am wondering if leaked oil is burning off the exhaust pipe. We need more info.
