Default Took a 16 year old for a ride today

Took my daughters boyfriend for a ride.

1. It's loud with the top off and windows down at 75mph
2. He loves the Atari dash
3. He got a kick when I lit them up off the line
4. He was shocked that a 30+ year old car would look and perform so new
5. He was impressed by the range of the Delco Bose considering it's age, was shocked it was all still original
6. Couldn't believe I only have about 10K in the car (New Paint, New Targa, New Mufflers, New Tires)

All reasons I bought my '96. I'm 22.
No 21 year old car can hang with me stock, save for real exotics.

A little off topic but it was a cool moment so I'll share.
I had it in the shop the other day and was chatting with a lady and they were pulling it on to the lift. It was on the other side of a cinder block wall and the wall was shaking. The exhaust on my car is....pronounced but not ridiculous from the inside but downright loud from the outside. This was also the first time I'd heard my car from the outside except for idling. She said "Oh my gosh what is that?"
I could see it through the window and I just sheepishly replied "That would be my car".
She replied "You didn't say you had a corvette".
To which I responded "I try not to brag" and chuckled.

It was a fun moment.

I was in the driveway, messing around, doing something to the vette. The next door neighbor always sees me out there doing something. One day his dad was over there, came over and said he always liked vettes and was thinking about buying one. I ask if he wanted to go for a ride, A short ride later, b4 we got home, I pulled overt and said you drive. He loved it. A few months later he was over visiting his son,,, driving a c-4 vette. lol.

Good to know there's kids left that can appreciate something that doesn't have electronic written all over it!

Took my 17 year old daughter for her first vette ride yesterday. Found out she can still smile. Those with 17 year old daughters know what I mean.

So today she comes home with a picture of a car she saw and wanted. A BMW i8. That ain't happening. BTW it was at Walmart.

Default Great Memory

On my son's 16th birthday, I let him drive my '87 Corvette. Same with my daughter. Each of them and myself will always cherish those fond memories.
