More shift resistance ZF6?
My ZF6 is really smooth shifting. Too smooth in fact, I'd prefer if it had a little more resistance to it. Right now it just glides into gear with no resistance really, so if I **** it on the fast/aggressive side, I worry I'm going to break the shifter arm.
My STI has a lot more resistance to moving the lever, and so did the C6 I looked at over the weekend. Any ideas on how to get some more resistance?

Go to B&M shifter. It will add some resistance. After that a hurst will add some as well, but still retains a nice positive engagement.

Learn to live with it.
They shift great and you don't need to do any anti-venom mod to make it shift smoother like in the C5's and newer.
The ZF is a pretty durable transmission and shifter. It is probably better than the C5 T56 setups. The ZF C4's can take a lot of aggressive shifting/racing without damage.
Good luck and have fun.

My transmission is too smooth. Such a quality problem!
But seriously, has the transmission oil been changed since you bought the car? Meaning, do you know exactly what oil is in there? Some aftermarket additives are considered safe for manual gearboxes and might cause the symptoms you describe. Some additives are not good for the brass synchronizers. For $30 in fluid the first thing I would do is change the fluid... only high quality Synchromesh oil, no additives. If it is still too smooth, then learn to enjoy it.
You won't break the shift lever unless you are abusing it.

I replaced the transmission fluid when I bought it a few years ago. I used some sort of synchromesh... don't remember exactly what but it was recommended on the forum. Mobil 1 maybe.
I might try picking up a Hurst shifter for it. My C4 is about to see a lot more driving action as it just got joined by a C6GS Centennial Edition.
