I want to replace my crossfire motor with an LS1 i don't mind the crossfire but here in Australia it's a pain to get parts locally. Unlike the LS1 which has no dramas what i would like to know is what problems i may face before i start.

Just Google "C4 LSx swap" and you will find more info than you can ever use.

If they can stuff it into a Miata (they can) you will get into your 84. Have fun with it. That should be a killer swap.

I reckon your biggest problem will be getting it engineered. Every modification will have to be assessed and it will cost plenty. I think your best plan is to consult an engineer first and find out what exactly is involved and what it will cost.
I've just had my 88 examined to make sure it complied with the ADRs that were used in that year for the VASS certificate required by Vicroads. It passed all tests except that I had to fit amber rear indicators. He had the car for half a day and charged me 800 bucks.

will be a bad **** if u do it, researched it a bit before I decided to stroke my l98. people make motor mounts and everything her in the states for this app. I'm thinking if you guys have insurance auctions outback on totaled cars like we do here in the states that would be the best way to score a donor for the project. best of luck to you.

In the middle of swapping my '88. Ls1tech has a ton of info in the conversion section. Don't listen to the many forum racers who say the truck accessories won't fit. It's been done and they do. Depending on what route you go it can be pricey.
