Removing VSS

Removing VSS
Wanted to replace the VSS on my 1994 LT1 Convertible. The speedo jumps around when the temp is cold. After it warms up it stabilizes. I had to remove one of the x-braces to have access to the VSS. The exhaust is really in the way, but I could work my ratchet up there to remove the retaining bolt. I planned to drop the VSS and then unplug the unit. Removed the bolt, but could not get the VSS out. I had limited working room and didn't want to create an issue.
Does the VSS just pop/pull out directly? Any suggestions or do I just need to give it a bit mote "persuasion"??

Burning Brakes
How did you remove the bolt? Not much room around the exhaust pipe and with large hands. This is on my 93 six speed coupe. Working under it on the floor is a lot harder than if I had a hoist. Will try and get a nut driver in the space and use some pliers to turn it. Other suggestions?

Also working on jack stands......on my 94 vert I had to remove the x-brace. Could access it with some extensions and a swivel. It was stuck and had to wrestle it out! Removed the connection after I dropped the VSS. Felt like I was working on my British car!!!!!
