LPE 415 ZR1 or modded Z06?
Well, fortune may smile so that I may be looking for a hot rod. The only downside is I have to give the wife my LT4. Bah! Oh well, gotta do what you gotta do. My two choices are either a LPE ZR1 or an already (supercharged & whatnot)modified Z06. I thought I'd get some opinions on the two. I've seen some great examples of both, but torn on which I want to spring for. It's going to be a toy, but it has to be fully legal & streetable for cruising. Just thought I'd get some opions of what ya'll think.

I wish I had a choice like that to make. But it is actually a difficult one. The question I would like to know the answer to is how long can the LS6 last being boosted? They are great motors but have yet to prove their endurance under stress. I won't even get into the endurance of the LT5. We all know about it already. If done right I'm sure the LS6 can survive for some time. But I doubt the car will see 100K miles being boosted.
The ZR-1 is a very exclusive car, and it being a 415 is even more so. What are there 50 415s out there? 50 may even be high.
Tough choice

That ZR-1 you mentioned was in the Road & Track magazine back in 98 when they did the fastest street legal cars in America shootout. With a Cat in place I think it ran 198 mph, and without the Cat it pulled to 206, which was the second highest amongst the best of the supercars.
John also brought a C-5 and it only went 178mph. Mario Andretti drove all the cars and he said that the ZR-1 was way more stable at high speeds than the C-5 and probably one of the most stable at over 200mph.
If you want raw accleration, along with razor sharp handling, and daily drivibilty, I would go with the Z06. However, with it's hard top design it will not go past 200mph even heavily modded.
ZR-1 is definitely the car to own if you want to drive over 200mph.
Personally, I would go with a modded ACR Viper and forget about the rest!

Absolutely the ZR1 with LPE 415.......they can be truly awesome and VERY RARE. Everyone these days has a C5 and alot of Z06's......
Check out Limey's 415" 570 rwhp ZR1 over in that section......not an LPE , I dont beleive , but .....WOW.... oh and he has a shot of nitrous on it too.....yikes. Have fun deciding.... :seeya

Which Z are you talking about? They can both be loud & brash depending on how they are moddified. :yesnod:

as fast as the zr1 is. the Zo6 is nicer inside..roomier.. quieter..ratlle free.. handles more precisely..... If either motor blows, get ready to sell the lt4 and the house to rebuild the zr1.
I love my 93 but theres no comparison. Zo6 all the way.

I just got into a Z06 the other day. Sweeet. Can't afford it, but nice anyway and much easier on the body :D
Everyone else has covered everything else pretty well. Overall use will likely be the determining factor (would be for me).
Happy hunting

A four cam 32 valve 600HP ZR-1 would be my choice. There is no comparison. I'd sell a kidney for one.
A very tough decision to make. The ZR1's are more rare and unique......while the Z06 will be more comfortable and nicer creature comfort wise. Somebody told me once...."You put on a C4 while you get in a C5". Both great vettes!! :)
