How well do our cars handle rain??
I don't drive my vette in the rain. I'll be honest, it's due to laziness. Cleaning these things is a PITA. I would like to know if I ever had to, how our vettes take the rain. I had a 91 Camaro that did not handle rain well at all.

The Vette does very well, I think it depends a lot on the tires. I run Goodyear(hated word here) F 1' steel on the front, Gs on the rear.
I don't drive in the rain unless I am caught in it. On several returns from the Cruise Ins I have been caught in the mountains of West Virginia in heavy rains.
I ran 80+ and never had a problem! Needless to say, I think F 1's rock!

Depends on the tires mostly, but i dont believe they handle very well in the rain at all. I feel the steering wheel try to break away from me when i hit almost every puddle.
And i drive about 5 under when its raining, for downpours i creep around.

Tires and the control of your right foot depends on how your car handles rain.

Tread on our tires is usually shallow, makes it much easier to hydroplane. Still, I don't mind driving in the rain, I just slow down, or take an alternate route with less water.

Like Mojo said, if you go pedal to the metal, you might as well drive blindfolded, but if you drive "normal", you shouldn't have ANY problems. Its obviously not the same as dry, but very manageable.

FWIW...I got caught in a minor snowstorm the other night. Oversteer city(back end fishtail) even going nice and easy. I'll drive it in the rain or dry,but in the snow even with a disciplined foot was tough.

Don't drive stupid and they drive just like any other car in the rain. With good tires on the car, they drive better then most other cars I've driven in the rain.

I used to use my C4 as a daily driver. They're better than most other cars in the rain. Just be gentle with the gas pedal, and drive slower. (And if you have balding tires, watch out for hydro-planing.)

I think its all up to the tires and thier ability to shed the water. I just moved to the great wet northwest Oregon a month ago and yes the rain sucks. However I bought my car to drive and enjoy I wont run it in the snow but the rain isnt a problem if you behave and dont push things too hard. Our interstate here can have 2-3 inch deep puddles that just pop up i just run smooth and steady and dont have a problem.

When I've got caught in the rain it's been no problem even with the 315's in the back I never hydroplaned.

I drive my Vette as a daily driver, every day to work and back, regardles of weather. I have driven in rain, storms, 4" of snow, and the Vette handles very well considering it is primarily a sports car. I have 140,000 miles on her, and would not consider anything else as a daily driver. :chevy

Rained in Dallas yesterday, I had been driving the vette for the last few days, I figured " what the hell?" vette was already dirty, so I drove it yesterday, was really, really surprized, left the active handling on and it drove like a dream. Goodyear run flats with 28,000 miles on them now, I've been reading comments about how forum memebers don't like them but I don't have anything else to compare them to. They seem great to me though. It seems that maybe my " garage queen" is becoming dethroned

Tires are everything when it comes to rain. The vette with good, full tread depth tires is very driveable in the rain with a little control of the right foot.

Re: How well do our cars handle rain?? (95AquaC4)
 Depends primarily on two factors: tires and weight of your right foot. When I bought my 87 Coupe it had Ventus  tires (made by Hankook). They were practically new but so hard that driving in wet roads was extremely hazardous. You simply could not touch the gas pedal coming out of a street corner because you could easily do a 360 :mad Then I switched to Dunlops and they grab a little better when wet but are not rain tires. They Hydroplane easily. Next time I buy tires I will try to get something that holds better when wet and don't cost an arm & a leg. :D

My 94LT1 Coupe with Michelin Pilots 285 40r 17 with ASR on is very comfortable in rain at 60 MPH until my windshield wipers do battle. Went to 18 inch windshield wipers and corvette is now good to go in bad weather.

That is one good thing I can say about the GSCs. I've been caught in a torrential downpour and crusied at 75 with the car steady as a rock. The ASC really helps here on the LT1 cars. The early cars with big torque and no ASC probably were a white knuckler compared to the 92-96 cars.
