Can you dye black leather red? I'm curious because I would like to do this on my new seats
some of you guys may remember me posting this earlier, but now i have the seats and i wanted to try dying just those specific parts, possibly with an aerosol dye like vinyl dye, i dunno, any info would be appreciated.... :D

Your black seat covers will not turn red with the application of a red dye. The end product will still be a very dark color. Why not keep the black color?

that's what i figured...is there any way to "bleach" leather?
I just liek the "mod-red" look a whole lot. i tried wet-okoles and didn't care for them and don't have enough money to get anything professionally done..so i'm looking for other avenues :D

Explore the local upholstery shops, and you might find a small shop that will provide you with new covers at a reasonable price. Bleach, re-dye, etc. will only negate the appearance of your seat covers. If you don't find a shop with reasonable prices, just live with what you have (or repair what you have) until you can buy new. You will be much happier in the end.....

i think bleaching them would weaking them a good bit, another thing you could do is try and sell the ones you have if they are in good shape and then have what you want made

Spray dye doesn't stick well...it's not really dye, it's more of a penetrating paint.
Real dye jobs "tan" the leather from front to back...and when it dries the material is that color throughout.
Enjoy what you have...save you money and do what you want later.

We have a member named Chuck Pelton. He lives in Michigan. He sells dye and recovers sterring wheels, etc. for the major catalogs. I don't have his email, but if you can find him, he would be the guy to ask.

:nono: If U where able 2 dye them, in the summer time when U sweat or perspire it would mess up U'r clothes. I remember a guy dying his interior and he was :boxing :mad when his clothes were the same color as his seats

yeah tat would kinda suck....but there has to be some way to dye the seats, i mean, there aren't torch-red skinned cows out there  granted they aren't black either, but the black dye doesn't wear off on my clothes, so what kind of dye did they use in the first place?

What may be a less expensive way is to take your seat covers to an upholstery shop and have them just cut and replace the parts you want to have a different color (re: the sample picture). This will cost some money but it's better than replacing all of the covers.
