Who has gone to MIDAS?
The Vette is going to get muffler elims monday(got an appointment with customs guy).
I think i'm gonna have them rotate the tires, and align them.
How much is this gonna run me.

I dopn't know, but if they put it on a lift, make sure you are there to tell them where to place the pads. Too many of these places bung up the bottom of a Vette. I'm talking about busted foot wells and various things getting bent. :mad

STOP. don't go to MIDAS. their people don't have a clue, and will try to rip you off every chance they get.
you've been warned, proceed at your own risk.

How many times can I say it...stay the heck away from them. They are really Bozos and don't have a clue. I could tell you a real horror story. You would be better off taking your car to a 1 arm blind monkey.

I had Midas make me some elims and install my Hooker tips. For that they charged me $69! There are good and bad mechanics everywhere, I got lucky and ran across a good one .. I got to watch the guy do it. He was totally **** about it (much like me hehe) He had me look at the tips before every weld to make sure I was happy with the looks and alignment.
I'm sure all Midas places aren't great, but the one I dealt with was.
I'd say tell them EXACTLY what you want and what you expect .. if they hedge that is a bad sign.

And don't forget, make sure if they put it on a lift that mounts under the car, to take off your top. I saw them lift a Vett once and because of the tork on the car, it cracked the top panel.
Bet it cost Midas a pretty penny to get that fixed!!!!! :smash:

Well don't hate me, but the first time it cost me nothing, the second time $20.

I took mine to MIDAS
$35 to cut off the old mufflers and weld the stock tips back on.
They didn't use a 4 point lift - they rolled up on the rail type lift and lifted it from the wheels.

I use Midas a LOT!
Locally, they do a lot of work for the car clubs, and I know for a fact the manager has been there 15+ uears.
When I took the vette in to install the Power effects, he personally lifted the car. He knew to open the doors and hood and allowed me to supervise all work being performed.

I've never opened my doors or hood and have no problems. I think that is some type of urban legend! :jester

Re: Who has gone to MIDAS? (9vette3)
I dont open it up when I lift it either.
the point is that they were courtious/thoughtfull enough to treat the car in a special way. They were VERY careful with the car, and were very customer oriented.
The car DOES twist when lifted...and "could" cause a problem.
Jack your car, then try the close the hood, install the top or shut the door. But dont be surprised when they WONT close or fit.
