Default stock 1/4 mile time?

What was the stock 1/4 mile time for the 1990 vette? Was there a difference in times between the convertible and hardtop??

Thanks,
Ron

I hope youre not quoting magazine times Bam92. :nono:

Quick answer, they all can run a high 13. Better odds on the 6 speed getting that 13 than the automatic, if not it'll definitely run a very low 14. As will the convertible.

When my '88 was bone stock (down to the paper air filter) whith an A4, 2.59 gears and GY Eagles it ran 14.4sec in hot humid weather with a so-so baro; corrected for climate that was 14.0sec.

The '90 has 5-10 hp more so I would guess it would be .05-.10 sec quicker.

As far as comparing the coupe to the roadster it mostly depends on weight, assuming the same tranny and gears.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was wondering because I had posted my times from the other night on another forum and they were giving me crap like I was getting bad times. It was my first time drag racing and my best time of 4 runs was 14.23. My vette has a few mods like K&N filter, chip, flowmasters, HEI super coil distributor, Helix Power Tower, and the trany has a shift kit. And it was a hot day at the track. There is always room for improvement so that time is surely higher then what the car can do. It was a good time but I probably will not make it something I do often.

Thanks again,
Ron

I don't think those are bad times for your car first time out. I know your car isn't completely stock but none of your mods listed are going to give a big improvement over stock. That car is a gear change and more imortantly a new converter away from solid mid to low 13's.

I'd say those are pretty good times for a vert. My coupe ran right around 14 when bone stock.

I've only made 4 runs with my 100% stock '90 with a best time of 13.415 @ 107.49.

I hope to greatly improve that performance with more practice this summer.

Yep Vader I was quoten magazine times. Busted. It is a Motortrend mag from 4/90. It even said that zr1 should do 12.8 at 113.8. There are always alot of variables. Heat, track, elevation, driver etc. I have seen guys down here in Houston at 50ft above sea level blow away magazine times. But we have on of the fastest tracks in the country near us. All about variables.

My stealth RT/TT 4000lb HOG was 13.9 at 103mph bone stock.I hope I can do better with a GS 3300lb 30+more hp VETTE.

YA I know the AWD helped alot.nothing tuched it off the line.but 500lb more and 30less hp?I thought vetts are alot faster, now I know better.I know I'm not raceing my old stealth, not right away.

Sorry for geting off the topic but all those VETTE times, S--K.

I know what your saying. I was going to trade my vette on one of those new Dodge SRT-4's (don't call it a neon) they can post low 14's no problem, but those SRT-4's are such chick magnets and I have a jelous wife, so I'm stuck with this slow a** sled. :skep:

hmm,man it doesnt appear like the lt1 horsepower increase (over the l98) claimed by gm shows up at the track on raceday.
my 92 lt1 a4 coupe is stock except for 373 gears in it.
gonna have to go find out one day soon i guess.
be kind of embarrassed if it doesnt run a high 13.sure feels like it should.
