Default Question about changing rims & tire sizes

I am looking at getting a new seat of wheels and tires for my 93. Currently I have 255/45(?) & 285/40 on my Vette. I am looking at going to the A-Mold GS offset rims with 285/40 & 315/35 size tires on them. My question is does anything need to be done to the speedometer gearing to put this combo on, or will my speedometer/odometer still register the correct speed/distance? I put 70 miles a day on my Vette and I don't want the odometer racking on 100 miles per day from the change. I also travel the turnpike here, where we all do 80-90 mph. I would rather not have my speedometer reading 100 mph or worst, 60 mph. Anyway, if anyone knows if this will throw off my readings and maybe what I can do to correct it easily, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Question about changing rims & tire sizes (Whitvette)

assuming you still have the 17" rims, the diameter for the 285/40 is 25.98" and diameter for 315/35 is 25.68". Based on those numbers, if you travel 70MPH with the old calibration, your actual speed with the 315/35 tires is 69.2MPH--not enough to notice anything.
