How do you disable passenger airbag?
How do you disable the passenger side airbag when you have a small child in the car? My pickup has a switch that you use the ignition key to turn off the airbag and I would like the same for the Vette. I posted over in the Tech/Performance site but have no received a response. Any help out there?

No easy way to do this on a Corvette w/out setting a code. Looks like GM hasn't made a provision for this, but there are work-arounds, if you want to invest the time and money.

From what I hear there are companys that do this, BUT it is not cheap and there is ALOT of "redtape" involved.

I am suprised that this is not a requirement in two seat cars as it is in pickup trucks
The purpose was that because there was little or no back seat in a truck for a child safety seat, the airbag could be turned off to avoid injury. Seems the vette would fit into that category.

Congress passed a law in '98 that made it legal for people to get their airbags disabled under certain conditions. Since '94 and up Corvettes have the passenger airbag and its only a 2 seater, it should qualify with no problems. From my understanding, there's a form to fill out to get approved and afterwards any company that makes disconnect kits can assist you.
It seems if you want to install it yourself, no form is needed what so ever.
