Default Pictures requested of "air box"

I have always wondered if my air intake had the "open lid" mod done to it.. But I don't know what an original one looks like.. I took the box out and there's non factory cut marks in it.. I don't know how to describe it, but if someone had a pic of an original and then an open air box, i could probably be able to tell.. Thanks.

Don't have a pic of the stock one (somewhere in storage), but here is a link to a cut one:

Well mine's not like that, but the middle of it has some saw marks where something was cut away/out from it..

The one in the pic is an aftermarket. The one you have was probably cut by the previous owner...equally as effective just not as pretty.

If you can see saw marks, and they are shiney and unpainted, suggest you get some heat resistant flat black spray paint, pull the lid out, and cover the marks. Best thing for your vette.

Factory lid should look similar to this:
http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?d...QWTSU17RNK1LN5

or this: http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?d...QWTSU17RNK1LN5

If the vents are missing you have an "open lid"

Is this a "stock" box?? Cuz mine looks like that, except the bottom pic, mine has a large horizontal rectangle cut out of it rather than the vertical one shown there..??
 So I have a semi-stock-open lid?? :jester

Hi,

Only had the vette since around June....I can only assume that my air box
is "standard" edition for a '92 LT-1. The car was pretty much all stock when
I bought it with no mods as far as I or the vette mechanic that looked it
over for me prior to purchase knows....

Have since replaced with an open lid from Mid America and a K&N Air Filter...

Here's a pic with the saw marks and everything. Can't get any cleaner than that :leaving:
