Default LT-2, and LT-3

Why wasnt there an LT-2 and a LT-3,,, or was there.
It just makes no sense that GM went from LT-1 to LT-4 and LT-5.........

This should get some talk going on here,,, been pretty boring lately

My guess is the designers at GM can't count very well.

1 ugh, 4 umm, what next? Oh 5!

They also went from LS-1 to LS-6. It boggles the mind, doesn't it?

The LT-1 name was brought back from an optional engine RPO from the 70's

LT-2 and 3 probably didn't sound cool enough.

Also, the LT-5 came before the LT-4. Go figure!

technically, it was LT1 (in the 70's to the LT5 (zr1 motor seen in 89, production run began 90) then LT1 in 92 and LT4 in 96

reasons

The LT2 is a truck engine. remember GM's RPO codes are for more than just the Corvette

I had a 70 coupe with an LS-5 motor 390HP 454. Great torque monster motor. There was also an LS-6 454 that went into 70 Chevelle SS cars.

LT-5 came before LT-4. But they made LT-1 over 30 years ago. And came back in 1992 with a LT_1. That came after the LT-5. :leaving: I need another cup of coffee

Let's see, down here #2 is Rusty Wallace and he doesn't drive Chevys and they retired #3, so it makes sence to go from LT1 to LT4. Coffee,! it's time for a beer :leaving:

the LS6 also went into the 71 vette. Here are some breakdowns of engine RPO codes for the corvettes. i'm not sure on all of the codes for the base engines.
