What is the real Z?
Don't know if this topics been discussed before and it may be a little biased on a Vette board but be objective.
What is the real Z car? What comes to mind when you hear "I own a Z"?
I.e. Cars that have been called Z:
- Corvette ZR1
- Camaro Z28
- Nissan "Z" 240ZX, 300ZX
Coming from the Nissan TTZ world I think of Mr. K's Nissan "Z".

the original 'Z' car is a 1963 ZO6. if you are talking about a C4 it could be a ZR-1 or Z51 a performance handiling package :chevy

and a ZR-1 or Z06 as a bad azz Corvette

I think everyone has their own opinion on this. To me, the first Z28 I had was "the Z".

Since the 1963 ZO6 big tank coupe came 1st its the original Z.
The others are in 2nd place, 2nd place is the 1st loser.

A Z car is a Datsun/Nissan. If I had a ZR1 or ZO6 or Z28 for that matter,and somebody ask me what I drove. I would say "thats my ZR1 or ZO6 ect. I would never refer to a ZR1 as a "Z". :leaving:

Plain and simple, if you are on teh C4 forum and hear "Z", it is most likely a ZR1, or Z07, Z51 isn't used as much but qualifies as well as a few other "Z" RPO's.
If you are on the C5 forum a "Z" most definitely would be a Z06, don't here too many C2 guys talk about a Z06 since there weren't that many made, same with the ZR1 in teh eraly '70's.
Now if you are in "Other Cars" or "Off Topic" or any other non Corvette Forum, a Z can be a Z28 or Datsun Z car.

It's a Datsun/Nissan. People I know who have ZR1s or Z06s call the three letters/numbers out. Corvette people can be well served by respecting the traditions of other makes...

In conversation with others (outside of the Forum), I associate the 300ZX or the 350Z with the term. However, when I'm playing around on the Forum, I think Mojo said it the best.
