I want a good/ballsy exhaust sound-help!!!!!!!
http://hometown.aol.com/vettelt11992...e/profile.html
Hello, i just was wondering if anyone can help me in this dilemma...
I am currently looking for the ballsiest exhaust sound ever heard on a vette... Ive tried a few things(stock, stock w/o resonator, straight pipes, to my current setup stock cats, no res. and dynomax mufflers-i bought these because straight pipes would give me a headache after about two minutes from the int. resonance)... I was considering borla mufflers w/high flow cats and no resonator... Ive heard some guys mention magnaflows, what do they sound like... I am open to just about any suggestions, I am just looking for that mid 60's muscle car sound, and i wont be happy until i get it... I dont care about the cost i want the sound... I know it wont be totally possible with emissions requirements, but i want something close...
Please help!!!
thanks guys...

I've tried dyno max and borlas also and low and behold, the cheapest turned out sounding the best. To me anyways. I'm running stock shorty's with no pre- cats, a gutted cat and these Monza mufflers from Mid- America Corvette. It says they are for 1984-1991 so I'm not sure about your 1992. If you could make them work I think you'd like. Mine is mild and wild, if you will. Gets very throaty at higher RPMs but is liveable on highway with minimal resonance.

I have Hooker # 2149 1 3/4" long tube headers, 2.5" dual exhaust, no cats to 2 chamber 40 series Flowmaster mufflers.
* Sorry for the poor file quality. It was taken with an old camcorder, then transferred to the computer, saved as .mpeg and then transformed into .wmv for file size.

If you really want a great sounding exhaust, do what my girlfriend and I did to both our corvettes, she's got an 88 and I've got a 95, we had a local muffler shop cut off the mufflers and were are running straight pipes out the back, they even welded the crome tips back on. We couldn't be more pleased. Good Luck

I have a Corsa system with Exotic Muscle longtubes and no cats right now. It sounds AWESOME! It's good (not overly loud -- very little resonance) at normal cruising, but at WOT revving to 6400, it kills small animals at the side of the road.
I also have a hotcam, so with a stock motor it would mellow it down a bit. I'm thinking about adding bullet cats to soften it a little (i.e. make my wife happy).

I would think to get the true 60's big block sound, you would almost have to run headers. That way you'd have the deep sound whether you were at idle or otherwise. I've currently got the 92-96 Magnaflows on the way for my stock GS - I'll post my opinions when I get them.

If you're looking for an all-out intimidating sound, I'd say check out some 40 series Flowmasters. You will have a definit resonance issue, but I've yet to hear anything that sounds as agressive. They have a nice throaty growl at idle and low RPM and they scream like a banshee at WOT. I have these with bigger front and rear y-pipes and no cats and it is impossible to not draw attention when driving the car.

I think for purly loud and ballsy its pretty tough to beat my setup. Hooker Long Tubes, No Cats, No resonator, X-pipe, and Dynomax straight through mufflers. She is a little noisy
For a loud ballsy sound you really need to remove your cats. They definitly quiet things down a bit. Longtubes really make a sound differrence especially when you decelleration and holding a gear, pop pop pop!

Try B&B Tri-Flow's and headers, that will get you the sound you want. Plus the B&B Tri-Flow's have the best looking Dual tips for the C4. IMO!

for the BEST sound and loudest, i went with long tubes, dual 3", Dr Gas X Pipe, then open exhaust. well really , i have cutouts that dump right before the stock mufflers. when i want it quiet it is and when i want it loud IT IS.
