What oil filter do you use?
I have been reading some oil & filter studies on the web and I would like to know what are your thoughts on oil filters. I use Mobil1 oil. Fram filters are really taking a beating on the filter studies. I am considering K&N or Mobil1 filters. Give me some feedback. Thanks!

I like the K&N Gold filter...mostly just for the convenient nut built-in to the bottom of the unit. Makes for easy removal when you gorilla grip the filter on like I tend to do.

I don't know what the next one will be, But it won't be a Fram Sure Grip. I nstalled this lastweek and my oil pressure dropped 20 psi. I'll be changing oil again this weekend. Maybe I'll try the Mobil1 filter to go with my oil.

Any filter is better than no filter....and how much do we actually need? Nobody seems to know (or, at least, is talking).

In tests, Fram was one of the worst filters (near the bottom of every category.) I use AC/Delco filters or PureOne filters. Hastings and Napa Gold are also highly rated as well as Mobil1 and Amsoil.
There was a website where this guy ( automotive engineer from GM) bought all the major brands and cut them open and checked everything from media type to weight and number or pleats.
They checked the size of particles and the anti-drainback or not feature on the filters. Fram was good 25 years ago, but today they are junk. Not one car maker uses them for their O.E.M. that says alot, IMO.
Go to your local NAPA auto parts counter and look at the cutaway of the Fram vs. the NAPA Gold filter. It that doesn't convince you that Fram's ghetto garbage, nothing will.
