Default LT4 hotcam or the CC306

What are your opinions? Which one would be better? I had the Lt4 in my old z28, I wanted the cc306 cam. Which is better, and do yall have time differences in the two

I say go for the 306, if you already have experienced the Hot cam and wanted more there is no way you will be happy with it now.

I had a Hot cam, AFR 195 comp heads, miniram, ZZ4 shortblock, and 3.73s, was hoping for 11s but no dice. Could only manage low 12s on motor and hits low 11s on a 150shot. As soon as I got used to that setup (in about 1 month) I wanted more.

What heads are you using? I would switch to 3.73 or 4.10s too!

It all depends on what you want for streetability. I really want 400 rear wheel horsepower and I could do it with the CC306. The problem though is that the losses in low end torque and fuel economy would kill my daily driver and would likely actually make the car slower. Sure it would make more horsepower, but the decrease in low end torque would tend to negate it.

I've known several people who have had the cc306 and weren't real happy with it, it never performs like they think it should. The only person who was at all satisfied with it had a 396 and we did away with the cc306 in order to go with something even bigger since torque wasn't an issue on the stroker motor.

BTW, I wouldn't even consider the cc306 unless you've got fully ported heads and headers / free flowing exhaust.

I stuck a zz4 engine with roller rockers, hot cam and several other options, then stripped the exhaust and replaced with headers and 3" exhaust pipes. Then stuck in a Dana 44 3.91 rear end. The old 91 6spd is 1quik91. It wasn't built for strip, the car is a semi-daily driver so I did'nt want to go too overboard. I'm really happy with her. I think I will need too get a second job to pay the fuel bills, but that's because i have this handicap called heavyfoot. However, I'm saving for the supercharger.
