HotRodCorvette-thanks for making me learn something.I did a little research. The acdelco website had a x-over to acdelco 21635 or standard lxe29.16038331 was used on 1985-86 g bodies + caprice and pontiac paresienne only. pic here http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...&jnid=4&jpid=0

Now I'm confused. Thought by replacing the esc with 16038331 would help filter the noise I'm getting with false knock. Which part do you guys suggest I use?
Car ran great before long tubes and now by data logging I see it being retarded and stumble. If I take the ground off the esc via a switch the Vette runs really strong. Don't want to leave it this way though as I want some protection when I start adding timing.
Thx

Is the rubber weak in your motor mounts and the motor& chassis brackets grounding out?Anything that knocks together during a hard accel might set the knock sensor off. From what I have read GM used the knock sensor system so they could run alot of advance during a part throttle cruise.I would not program an advance curve into an ecm that would depend on it working unless its a newer model aftermarket unit with new sensors and wiring.

The availability for LXE29 (16038331) is almost none existent. And twice the price of replacing one that is oem to my Vette. What do you guys think? Should I order a replacement that is stock or keep hunting for the recommend LXE29?
I tried to isolate the knock sensor with more Teflon tape and a one inch space between it and the block. Still get counts if I punch it around 2300-2800. It's not always the same. Convinced it's the tone of the headers. Still want to be able to tune with a sensor. Currently running stock spark table and 6 degrees timing.
