I need to buy a working Power Seat Rail Transmission for a 1984 - 1987. Also wondering if a transmission from the years 1988 - 1996, is able to fit the earlier seats?

No there are two different types for the later mpdel with a big screw vs little screw and late 87 was change over year. Ecklers has a rebuilding service they use out of florida which I used to replace my passenger side. There is a core charge which they return to you. Just an idea and I would wait for one of their sales or free shipping offers.

Obtained a big screw seat transmission cheaply to replace my busted little screw seat transmission. I used 5/16 inch drill bits to enlarge the two holes and fitted the large screw transmission. Dismantled the seat track, cleaned up all the metal pieces and re-greased the whole assembly. It works!!!
