who removed his broken power antenna and discarded the mast, thinking that the repair kit came with a whole new mast section. I need a power antenna core for a 1984-87 Corvette. Motor broken is fine.

The antenna mast should come with the ant and the nylon cable attached to it. I have repaired many and this is how it comes. Just remove your old mast and the broken nylon cable and then feed in the new assembly.

You do not use the old mast. The new unit comes with the mast and the nylon cable. If I recall I bought them from Ecklers.

For this type of antenna, the whole mast is not included in the kit. Only the top section of the mast. You are apparently supposed to discard only the top section which the nylon is attached to, and thread the new top section through the remaining sections of the existing mast. I should never, never disassemble anything before the parts come. When will I learn?
