Default lean or rich? throw a code? 1986

i have a modded 86, i was wondering if it runs lean or rich will it throw a code?

If it is very rich or lean it will throw a code out.....eventually.

It sometimes takes as long as 2 hours +. I have seen in the older 165 ECM which covers 86 thru 89 cars, with a 02 sensor disconnected to take over 2 hours to throw a code 13. Why, I have no idea. Try that with a later 94 and up PCM and you will get a code nearly as soon as you disconnect the wire. I think it has to do with the strategies, and the comm rates within the ECM.
