Cooling fan Switch???
I have a 89 vette with a single fan setup. I used the hypertech switch wired to the main fan relay green/white...to run cooler than the factory setup. The switch is set to kick on 200F and turn off at 185F. Little bit of a problem, the new switch is turning on the main fan at 185F. Seems too cool for me. I think the switch is bad? Any idea's?

Bin- ECM engine management instruction info.
In your case, disregard, since not modified.
Would suspect bad sensor.
Probably sent you different temp parameters or misboxed as
to part#.

But, unless you want to get addicted to
(Keyboard Tuning) and just want to change fan
control would not worry about it.
Going to be hardware and software costs plus
hair loss at times.
Used mainly for modified motors running on the ECM.
Have been into it for a year and just starting to scratch
the surface.
Get someone with programming equipment or buy a cheap chip
that has the fan control changes in it.
I have about $650.00 in hardware but you can do it alot cheaper
if you want to go for it.

If the a/c was running, the switch may be fine. The ECM uses a pressure sensitive switch to control fan operation when the compressor is engaged - not the signal from the Coolant Temp Sensor. Condensor pressure (temperature) rises quite rapidly and unless the fan is running, you can blow a hole in the hood (regardless of coolant temp). It's never a wise idea to try and control fan operation manually with the a/c on, so if you're grounding the main relay with a temperature switch, make sure that the ECM remains online when the compressor is engaged. A clean system (a/c and coolant), with the a/c on, should run about 10 degrees cooler anyway - the fan is going to be on sooner and will run much longer as the max target # at the Condensor is about 100 to 120 degrees. Maybe you have some other cooling issue? Otherwise, opting for a reprogram that leaves the ECM in charge of everything, is often the better way to go.

1996 C4 cooling
I have a 96 C4, apparently neither the coolant temp. sensor kits, nor the kits to manually switch on the fans, should be used on a 96 - so how do I go about getting my vette to run cooler? Every day when I get near to home the coolant temp. is 230+ - I'm not comfortable with it being that high.
Also, at what temp. do the fans currently switch on and off? Thanks!
