Default Can i still use my reducer ? please don't laugh

Well, these days im focused to put together my car ...now July 18th will be 10 months since i parked it and im very very anxious to take it to the street again ...well i have to put my headers in so my Hedman 64888 headers came with 2 reducers with no bung on them.
So i asked a friend and he pointed me to a guy that can do the job in the day ...so i left the parts there and i explained him what to do.
Well..
Guy put the bung upside down ...(the inner lip going inside) well the o2 sensor screws perfect anyway so i don't mind but ....he welded the bung too close to the edge !!! i was thinking that this could happen but i couldnt believe that both things happened (worst scenario !!!)
So here are the pics please don't laugh,i dont care how it looks but
i only want to know if its ok that is too close to the edge (when they weld it with to exhaust line).
Showed this to another friend and he told me i can use it and i dont have to worry,im very paranoid about my car.

If not i will trash this and will buy another one with the included bung

Here ya go :

Where's your clamp ring? Looks like he left that off too.

No,its ok,its low enough to pass it over the bung, its terrible but im only concerned about the bung too close to the edge ...it might affect the weld-to-line process...but maybe its just fine
Thanks !

I assume you will weld the reducer onto a pipe?

If so, it will work fine. Crappy welds though.

I thought the inner lip of the bung is supposed to go inside the pipe.

Not sure what you mean. None of the bung should protrude into the pipe.

It is supposed to go inside. If you are welding that pipe to another no problem. If you are planning to clamp another pipe on the end then you have an issue.

I see. The ones I have don't have a lip.

As long as he welds it all together its fine, but you obviously are never going to get it to seal with any clamp stuff. I bought the one show in the pic. I knew it would be less hassle.

As long as everything seals up it's fine. If you're welding that to another piece of pipe, I would do so with a o2 sensor plug screwed into the hole, to ensure that it doesn't warp such that you can't get the o2 sensor in there.

That's a good suggestion. Also, be aware there are plugs that will screw in that hole too. So, if you don't have an old sensor to "waste" a plug should be cheaper than an extra sensor. Or, a large bolt.

Yes you need a gasket, just measure your collector and go ask for a 3" or whatever collector gasket.

Sammy, Just put a pipe plug in it, and weld a new one on the correct side in the right place. Just tell everybody the plugged one is to measure the back pressure at 7,000 RPM
