need the memcal for a 870' (little chip 16 pin)
Hi guys,i have a spare 870' ECM i want to put side by side to the stock one connected permanently to my Ostrich .Since the new one arrived W/O the little 16 pin mecal i need info where to find the file (i think it has the open loop scalars and limp home mode file ),i'm not talking about the Eprom ,but the little chip aside.Otherwise i have to pull the stock ECm from under the dash ,pull the little chip, read it with a programmer and burn a spare chip.If i find the code somewhere i can avoid the hassle of doing it,and just burn the code into a new chip, thanks in advance guys.

The CALPAK I believe did cold-start cranking and limp home only. I'd post in the WTB for an '870 ECM and likely someone should have one they've upgraded to a '165. I wouldn't think it would be that expensive. It's of little value to most. A convenience for you!

I believe the WTB should work. Years ago many bought CALPAK because that's what the scanner told them to do but it "fixed" nothing. There were terminology problems and language misunderstandings I believe from the scanners and common knowledge information that was being passed around.

It's a resistor network. Just a bunch of tiny resistors. Nothing to program.
The limp chip uses the resistors like a lookup table to determine what injector pulse width to use for various conditions.

thanks Cliff,i was only trying to put an extra ECM in a good place to use with my ostrich and leave the stock one in that damn place W/O hurting my back and my head down there...obviuosly the spare one comes W/O calpak...i have to find a spare 85 Corvette Calpak...not easy here in Italy and Ebay hasn't many options and sometimes when you find a good one the vendor doesn't ship to Europe...i was thinking the calpak was a memory chip with a small .bin for limp home mode and start up/cranking routines that's why i was searching the file to burn...thanks guys appreciate your help,i'll serch the Bay for a Calpak...simple

Is this what your looking for? I bought an 870 with the prom and the other chip in it from a member here a few months ago. From what I could find on the net by the prom # the ECM is from an F body.
