I just switched to a bluetooth adapter for scanning using my android phone. It's meant to work with TunerPro, but I have no experience with that. I'm using the $32B ADX file to read the data stream (165 ECM for my 87), but don't see a way to view the SES/Ck Engine codes when they are set. Are the codes available in this data stream?

I'm just interested in diagnosing a runability problem (too rich), at the moment (don't plan any tuning anytime soon).

Please understand that I'm new to this level of detail with ADX files and the data stream. I'm pretty techie, but used different software with a serial cable in the past and the software that ran on my laptop showed the codes and the data separately. That setup quit working, so I went wireless :-)

The 87 TPI uses the A028 datastream definition. The diagnostic codes are in the vehicle datastream (words 12,13,14,15). So if the ads file has them defined, they would show up. I looked at the 32B.ads file on tunerpro.net. That file is pretty lacking. It has a few of the bit codes defined (learn enabled for example). I think if you got the A028 datastream definition and loaded up Tunerpro, you could fill in the additional bits that are missing. It might be time consuming. Also, check around and see if anyone has a better file for the 87 TPI. Good luck!

Thanks, much! I checked TunerPro.net, and found an entry in the list for the A028 datastream, but no link to download an ADS file.


Where do you suggest I check for a better file? On the forum? On a different site?

Why not just jump the A & B terminals on the ALDL and count the flashes of the SES light ?

I can certainly do that, but it is nice to know when the code is set, especially if I'm logging data. And, if I'm connecting the adapter, it's faster and easier to see the code than count flashes.

The 32b ads file is on the tunerpro downloads page. I think that is what you have now, probably converted to an adx file. I think the Tunerpro program has a utility for adding parameters to the adx file. You just need to know where they are which is where the A028.ds file comes in. I would check www.gearhead-efi.com for a better adx file. If they don't have it, they probably have the A028.ds file, or the ALDLstuff.zip file that is rolling around the internet that has the A028.ds file.
