What year is the car? It does make a difference.
The SES light is controlled by the ECM. Do you have power to the ECM?
The ECM also controls the fuel pump. Does it run for 2 seconds when you first turn on the ignition?
There are a lot more questions that need to be answered. Answer these first and we can go on from there.

Does the SES light come on if you turn on the ignition but don't start the engine?
Pin G supplies voltage to the fuel pump. You put 12 volts in there, not ground.
The ECM turns on the fuel pump, so the ECM is probably OK.

Got another ecm from an 86 camaro. Same problem but now have ses light. After checking connections again the engine roared to life. I have to wiggle wires on each start. After she starts all systems are good and she runs smoothly. I might have a gremlin in it.
