Default Data Master can it damage ecm 87 Vet

Installed new TPS set correctly.

After using Data Master engine cranks and does not fire. Data Master loaded it up.
Any thoughts. Did It damage the ECM..

The ECM is pretty well protected and it's hard to damage.

Have you looked over the various parameters in Data Master and did you see anything strange?

I have found that when I change the resistance to 10 k the engine has always ran rough after a few minutes.
Data Master is more reliable then tuner pro and easier to use. I like tuner pro's dash boards but in 10 k it has rough idle

I am checking connections and am replacing the ECM as it is on warranty. It has an unusual odor to it that wasn't there when I installed it.

Some scan tools and cables put a 10K resistor across the A & B pins of the ALDL connector. In some cases there is a switch to take this resistor out of the circuit. In Diacom the switch is electronic and I can put it in or take it out.

Thanks Cliff just read this explains the rough running

From the shop manual (10K mode):

• Closed loop timers are bypassed
• EST (spark) is advanced
• IAC will control engine idle to 1000 RPM ± 50 RPM
• On some engines, canister purge solenoid will be enabled
• P/N restrict functions will be disabled

This link is a good reminder on checking wires

Been using Datamaster on my 87 for about 10 years. No problems from it.

Thanks I was trying to set tps with data master volts did not reg. Started engine up and in about 10 minutes of checking wires with engine running the engine loaded up and shut off. With new ECM still only cranks. Will track the problem down thanks
Steve

I have been using Data Master for about 5 years I also use Tuner Pro.

I was just grasping at straws
Love my 87

I use Tunerpro for burning chips. Prefer Datamaster for logging.
