Default Idle settings

I am going to have a chip burnt for my 89 l98 because I want it to idle a little higher then stock setting. How do I know what to tell the tuner to set it to?

What do you want it set to? There are various idle settings for different coolant temperatures.

My '85 4+3 has a stock idle of 725 and I have it at 900 right now.

I think my stock idle is 575 which I think is low. I was thinking about 700 to 750 I have a miss at idle That I really need to find first. Has had miss since I got car almost four years ago. Only has 49000 miles

That seems to be a little low. I'm not 100% certain if that is what it's supposed to be. I would do a little research to confirm the idle RPM before trying to change it in the tune. In fact, your tuner can tell you what the stock RPM is supposed to be by looking at the tune.

Should minimum idle rpm be set while in park or drive?

Well, I think I got it to where I can live with it. I don't think it will ever idle as smooth as I would like it to do.

I had minimum idle and TPS so screwed up. Finally got them adjusted to work with each other. I also took out performance chip. Don't really know that chip had any thing to do with it but wanted back to stock
