I am thinking of doing some data loging and would like to now if this combo would work.

Ok i got this tablet http://www.ebay.com/itm/331514969904?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=540680888870&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT instead with shipping it was cheaper. I just tried a short data run log out in the garage as far as I can tell it works but is not reading my data correctly so I have to lern how to configure aldl and wether to use or not use the jumber on the scanner cable.

by the way I have a 90 L98 auto

You do not use the jumper.

What software are you using? Try ALDLdroid.

You need the correct data configuration file so the software knows what its looking at. The PCM spits out a string of digits. The order and meaning of the digits changed from year to year so you need the correct configuration file or you'll get garbage.

I am using ALDLDroid, the jumper for the resistor is built into the usb cable that I am talking about, I found the right adx file on the disk that comes with the cable from reddevilriver, Yes I found out about the garbage. thank you.

I did some data logging with what I thought was the correct adx file but I noticed the oil temp reading high right from a cold start up 148, BLM at 125, IAC 11, I am trying to diagnose a rough idle, MAP kPa 35.08, MAP Voltage 1.31, TPS % 0.0, TPS Voltage 0.92, all taking at idle with engine warmed up. let me now what other data I should be looking at. also should there also be data letting me now if the tcc is locking up. thank you
