Default Simple question

How many IAC steps should I add for when the A/C comes on?

I have zero steps added now and my RPMs drop by 100-200 RPMs for about 20 seconds when I turn the A/C on and then they go back up and stay at target. I want to get rid of the initial drop.

Thanks.

My ARAP bin adds 20 counts.

My BUA bin adds 100 RPM. I don't know how many counts that comes out to. The ECM takes care of that.

Does it actually increase the target idle by 100 RPMs or does it settle to the normal target idle?

Check your IAC counts before you turn the air on and after is settles down after 20 seconds, the difference is what you add.

Turns out now matter how many steps that I add, the RPM still drops and then it kicks back up to an even higher idle RPM depending on how many steps I add.

It increases the target RPM. Then the ECM increases the IAC count to attain that RPM. There is a tolerance on the RPM. My recollection is that it is 25 RPM, so it will get within 25 RPM of the target RPM.
