Cheapest way to monitor Knock Retard on 96?
I have a 1996 and would like to monitor knock retard. I have a scanner where I can monitor live various outputs, but knock retard is not on the list of my AutoXray 5000.
Are there other cheap OBII readers that I can use to monitor KR or some other cheap way to do it? My car is stock. I have no knock or problems with it. I just want to see it.

I use AldlDroid on an android tablet it was about $12+ for the software the tablet was about $36.00 on ebay and about $60. for the usb cable. It does show knock retard, you will have to use the proper adx file for you car should be on cd that comes with your cable, if you already have a windows laptop the cd that comes with the cable can be used with it instead of AldlDroid. insted of the cable you can also get a bluetooth adapter if your device has bluetooth capability. I beleive you need the 16 pin adapter for your 96.

I looked up ALDLDriod and it says it is for OBDI GM. The 1996 is actually OBD II. Does anyone have specific experience with this for OBDII?

I believe this works with OBDII under android but you will have to research it.

Amazon.com: ScanTool 427201 OBDLink LX Bluetooth: OBD Adapter/Diagnostic Scanner for Android & Windows: Automotive
Is it any good. Seems a little similar to the one you mention. I am hoping I can use it with torque.
Any thoughts?
