Default in theory - missing results in lean code?

So in theory: if the engine is stumbling/missing at wot could that give a code 55 "engine running lean" ?

i would think it would be possible as it is pumping a mixture of o2 and gas out the exhaust and the o2 sensors would see the oxygen even thoug it is mixed with gas?

what do you guys think?
