Default Battery - 650 CCA vs. 950 CCA

I received excellent advice from forum members on battery drain, thanks very much. My battery was DOA, and I finally gave up trying to charge it. My alternator went south about 2 months ago, I was driving, voltage dropped to 6.2V, then everything quit. New GM alternator, charged back up, held charge for about a month, then zip.
I pulled that 650 out and installed a new Delco 950 CCA.
What advantage is the 950 going to have?

300 more CCA (cold cranking amps) will give you more power to turn over the engine, so if it is a bit hard starting you have a lot more attempts. IT alos has approx 50% more reserv to lst longer in the event of a current drain or for extended use of the stereo etc without the engine running

Default RWS - Thanks

For the little money it cost to move up to a 950, it is worth it.
Thanks for info.

There are only 2 brands, battery-wise, that I'll trust. As far as a readily available, normal type, I've only had good experiences w/interstate. And if you're willing to spend $40 more, buy a red-top Optima. I've had one in my jeep for 6 years and never had a problem with it. I just dropped one in the vette 2 nights ago.

I purchase Optima batteries.. for all my cars I want to keep..
first they will not bleed acid!!! you can mount them up-sidedown if need be.
they do not strain in the winter... if you live in the cold climates
some people drive their vettes or other muscle cars in the winter..
gives you a new element of surprise!!!!!
