396 stroker oil pan
Building a 396 stroker and have a question about oil pans. I want to use the Canton 7qt oil pan part #15-240 . Will this pan need to be clearanced for the crank?

it depends on the crank (rod journal size) and rods you use. i used the eagle crank with eagle h-beam rods, and i did have to clearance.
to make mine work i used the thickest oil pan gasket i could (blue felpro), then had to clearance with a hammer the sides of the pan near the rail a bit, as well as tapping down slightly on the "scraper" part.
also, the pan gasket had to be clearanced to match the clearance slots in the oil pan rail, or the rods hit the gasket too.
it's not a big deal, btw, easier than it sounds.

I had no problems using Lunatti Pro-Mod rods, Callies crank. I did just have to tap down the scrapper just a touch. The pan rails were fine even without a gasket.
