rebuild or ZZ4
Thinking about rebuilding my L98 , maybe to 383 , or would a ZZ4 swap be easier/better ? If I do the strker 383 kit , I could use a ZZ4 cam , but would smog be a problem in Calif. ?

im trying to figure out where san fernando valley is - it looks like it's in northern ca.
i can deliver if interested.
ZZ4 is a great build, but if you play spray or forced induction, you can't get a ZZ4 with forged parts - that is why i went the way i did.

I wouldn't say that is shameless... you can supply what he is looking for!!! As for the question... if memory serves me some one here did the ZZ4 install and was not happy with it. I will also point out that they do have a 360hp TPI drop in crate motor!!! And it is about the same price.
To build or buy... that depends on you and your knowledge of building the motor. I was going to buy simply because of lack of time. Plus you get a warranty with it... that cant' be beat!!!

Don't have 3k I can blow right now but thanks.Still on the search for a vrigin 400 block- SFV is about 15-20 min. N.W. of LA. Napa is quite a bit further north. Beautiful up there.

I love my ZZ4 TPI setup
I just dropped in a ZZ4 2 mponths ago. I chose to put my stock (86) TPI back on - a few guys here in the forum told me that would choke the engine - "never see 5000 RPM" was the dirrect quote.
Well I haven't dino'ed it yet - but it is a great setup - and I routinely saw 5400RPM at the end of the straightaway during track days - BTW the 355 HP ZZ4 for some reason could hold off - and match the c-5 and c-6's down the straights- no problem (I run a Keisler T500 trans)

From what I understand the Heads on a ZZ4 are identical to Vortek - but the Vortek are Iron - while the ZZ4 heads are aluminum carefull about torque when tightening bolts!
