This condition has been going on since I have had a problem with the Fuel Pump. I discovered that the FP Relay wire and the circuit carrying power to the FP fuse had no continuity. So I laid out some wires creating parallel circuit from the relay to the corresponding ECM pins.
Now the motor will not shut off when I turn the key off. In order to kill the motor, I need to pull the gauges fuse. I have pulled any number of relays that are in the gauges circuit but so far no good. I will be looking at the ignition switch itself and the ESC module. However, with the gauges fuse pulled, the motor will shutoff with the key turn.
Anybody have any similar experience. This is on a 84 Xfire.

My guess is you are back feeding the ignition switch with the wire you installed.

Since it's possible to shut off the engine with that fuse pulled the problem is not in the ignition switch.

A good rule of thumb in such a case is to review the changes you've made to the electrical system. Double check your work, refering to your GM Shop Manual electrical section for confirmation.

Take a look at these three diagrams and mabey it will help, My guess is you some how taped into the #3 pink wire in the ignition diagram.
