New tranny on my 700r4 93 with 3.73 gears and 2400stall that came with new unit. The 1-2 shift at light throttle around 2800rpms at 18-20 mph hits really freakin hard. I mean its like getting rear ended. At wide open throttle its great, Ill get a nice chirp out of the Nittos at 5000 rpms. At wide open throttle the shift is crisp but man I dont know about light throttle, what do you guys think, does this sound right? The maker of the trans said adjust tv cable. I took it to a expert at GM I watched him play with it, he couldnt get it to move anymore. Two more things: In low at wot the trans will shift automatically into 2nd. Which I dont like at all. While in 4th at at crusing speed when im in a speed zone of 44-49 the car will act as if it doesnt know weather to down shift or acelerate. Almost feels like its boggin but i know its the tranny. I try to stay out of those traveling speeds.

Maybe this article on the TV cable will help. Not trying to recommend a tranny builder as they all have their problems, but sounds like something is wrong

Appreciate that but my tv cable goes into a ASR box which makes things more complicated. Gm guy got everything out of it he could and it didnt change anything and he told me it should of made a huge difference.

I don`t know about yours, but when I had a tranny rebuilt, they put a shift kit in it, & that made it bang gears pretty hard.

Yeah, I mean it hits hard enough to where if im in a turn at light throttle the shift will chirp the tires. Im just trying to figure out if is out of the ordinary. It is a heavy duty trans suppost to handle 750 hp.

The TransGo on my 700r4 would make it shift hard, but not so hard I felt rearended.

My transmission literally BANGS at medium throttle, but not so bad at WOT. I recently hooked my car up to a scanner, and it showed NO signs of transmission slippage in ANY gear. This is completely normal my friend

Sounds like a shift kit is in there.
Where is the trans from?
You could soften that 1-2 easily if you want.

I have the same set up as you....mine hits very hard at part throttle as well...smooth as silk at WOT...I have a full race Transgo shift kit...sounds like you have one too...

The Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, when setup correctly, will give smooth shifts at light throttle, and progressively firmer shifts with more throttle. This is why Trans-Go gets a bad reputation, from builders who do not understand accumulation, and/or think that firm shifts at light throttle make a race transmission. There are no good reasons for very firm shifts at light throttle openings, from a longevity standpoint. A good 1-2 part throttle shift should be quick, but not bangy by any means.

The new tranny is from Monster Motor Sports out of Florida. I dont think its a Transgo shift kit in their. I think they design their own kits and valve bodys. If I were to do it again I would by a tranny from a place close buy and that can do their own install. If their something you dont care for you can take right back to them without any other middle men. Its exspensive to have stuff changed when your dealing with out of state companys.

I'd say TV cable also if the trans hunts in 4th gear. Make sure it's right so you don't hurt your new trans. These cables can stretch over time, too. May need a new one.

I added a pint of LubeGard (black bottle) to my trans after it was rebuilt. It helped to keep the TV from sticking. What your describing with the 1-2 shift sounds like my trans when the valve started sticking. And the trans had a B&M shift kit installed! The damn thing kicked like a mule until the additive was included.

A few years ago I installed a B&M kit in my 700r4. The instructions said to remove the 1-2 accumulator spring for street/strip. I had a violent 1-2 shift at light throttle. Stop and go traffic was a killer. I reinstalled the 1-2 accumulator spring and then I had smooth but crisp light throttle shifts and hard full throttle shifts. Tranny was still working great when I sold the car after 100k miles.

I'd take it back and tell them to unblock your accumulator. its a old hot rodders trick that many people take too far.

My recently rebuilt tranny with 2500 stall converter and shift kit runs the same way except it really kicks hard when putting into first gear from neutral.
