Could a Mass Airflow Circuit Malfunction (P0100) affect gas mileage?
Well, it happened again about a week ago. SES on for a couple of days and then off. This time I had the codes pulled: P0100 - Mass Airflow Circuit Malfunction. The tech said it could indicate the beginning of the end for the MAF. Coincidently I noticed my MPG average has fallen almost 2MPG (this time of year, normally have the digital set to coolant temp). Tech also checked the 02s and said they were well within range. Coincidence or a direct relationship? Did a search of the archives here but no info. 96 LT1. Any opinions? TIA...

Well, since a MAF tells the ECM just how much air is entering the engine..yes it will affect MPG..greatly. Without reliable info from that sensor the ECM uses default fueling tables based on coolant temp and throttle position. The later systems used a MAP sensor for a back up to the MAF and aren't as greatly affected by the MAF going south.
